Walking With Purpose LTD ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the Walking With Purpose app, how we use it, and the rights you have over it.
Who we are

Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, date of birth and gender.
- Referral information: the GP or organisation that referred you, where applicable.
- Health and wellbeing responses: answers you give in our profile and questionnaire surveys.
- Activity data: your walks, including durations, estimated steps, daily goals and streaks.
- Location snapshots: a single location reading at the start and end of a walk, only if you allow location access. We do not track your location continuously or in the background.
- Technical data: your app version and, if you enable them, push-notification details for reminders.
How we use your information
- To provide the app and track your walking progress and goals.
- To send you reminders and service messages about your walks.
- To send you news and marketing emails, where you have opted in.
- To understand and improve our service, including through anonymised and aggregated analysis, where you have opted in.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
Your marketing and data preferences
You can turn news updates, marketing emails and anonymised data use on or off at any time from your Profile page. Turning off marketing will not affect essential service messages needed to run your account.
Legal basis
We process your information on the basis of your consent (which you can withdraw at any time), to perform our service to you, and to meet our legal obligations. Health-related information is only used with your explicit consent.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with trusted service providers who help us run the app (such as hosting and email delivery), and with the referring organisation where relevant to your programme. We may disclose information where required by law.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, then delete or anonymise it in line with our retention practices.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including secure hosting and encrypted connections.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, contact privacy@walkingwithpurpose.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Cookies and local storage
The app uses essential local storage on your device to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. It does not use third-party advertising cookies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised date.
